WTF 50% of Mudland Cantonese speakers are NOT Cantonese

Penang only got 670k m&d chinese. Even if all are Hokkiens still means another 1.8 million Hokkiens in KL Johor etc main cities.

Total m&d chinese population is 6.65m according to 2016 mudland census.

It's not a disgrace. It was no choice.

For the longest time, Malaysian Chinese had no choice but to watch Chinese shows in Cantonese as produced by the Hongkies. If you don't understand Cantonese what entertainment can you have? Taiwan didn't make a big effort to produce and sell shows in Hokkien and when they did they traitorously did it in Mandarin instead.

It was either watch in Cantonese or watch pontianak over and over again.
