How will WP's approach in the new Parliament be. With 8 MPs and NCMPs combined, it will be different from the 1-2 MPs they had at most in their history. Also the 8 makes for nearly all of the only 9 opposition representations in Parliament and there is no one save for SPP's Lina to steal their thunder so whatever they do is very glaring where opposition is concerned.

It seems that there will be 2 possible outcomes:

1) Things will be different as with 8 representations, they can do a lot more things now, file a lot more questions, debate a lot more, make a lot more speeches, even file motions (something they did not try to do) even if it still fails as 8 is still a small number. Who knows even interrupt, gate crash minister speeches etc. because they know if one is shot down, another 7 are there to support. The past engagement approach was due to the two conservative leaders LTK and Sylvia Lim both having about the same style, but they may turn a blind eye to each individual's approach (or the rest won't care what they think anyway).

2) They will be more focused on the kind of questions to ask collectively. If it happens it would predictably be the insistent directive of the 2 conservative leaders. Given that the 2 often did not max out their question time while expected to have put in the best effort to come up with credible ones (LTK at times did not file any questions), if the same happens, one or two people file the questions every sitting for the group. The average WP MP might speak very little than the last Parliament. In other words it is one party voice and not 8 WP voices. Sounds united but people may start to wonder if there is any difference putting 2 or 20 WP MPs in Parliament since whatever the number is will always speak with the volume of 2.

One thing is for sure - the PAP is anticipating and Singaporeans (including the non-WP opposition) are watching.

I think everyone is waiting anxiously for what will happen. 2 key dates - the first will be when Parliament sits for the first time. The second will be during the budget debate when the FY ends. Whether the questions come as a group or from individuals is not so important. What is important are penetrating intelligent questions. With the benefit of social media, the debates in Parliament can be widely distributed and followed. Conversely if there is silence, deference and concurrence, this will be noted too

It is often seen or perceived that penetrating intelligent questions and high volume of questions are mutually exclusive. Simple, if you include stupid questions, you can ask more questions on the whole. However, many want the latter as well.

Never disregard a "stupid question", it could lead to an in-depth question.
example: the boy asked why is the king naked?

Make sure that the 2 stubborn retired Ah Peks will sit at back benchers' row together with TPL.

One of them u won't be seeing very often unless they talk about his favourite topics.
The other one, he jolly well sit at the back, so damn tall, he sit in front will block everybody. And u are right, he can also give TPL advice :o

The best advice he could give her would be "Don't say anything in front of anybody unless you have memorized it" :D

Other advice would be:

1. Always accept criticism with a smile, there will be greater rewards.
2. If you can't think of anything better to say, blame it on amnesia.
3. If it involves peanuts and charities, don't support even if it involves your family members.
4. Just say what people want to hear at that moment, they will forget it later. Don't worry about that sammyboy forum, they are all siow. :D
5. Always call your rival by his nickname or petname. It makes it seem as if you like him.

Dear Perspective,

To make or ensure that Sylvia Lim follows the same non confrontational style as LTK was an acheivement in itself. To ensure that the six follow their styles is a bridge to far. Do they seek to control the tide or will they seek to manage it.

Their questions in parliament were asked but were polite , civil service in orientation, but never challenging enough perhaps due to a lack of confidence.

One thing for sure PAP ministers will have to answer more question. Because each MP only allow 3 question max.
So 6 time 3 mean 18 question. NCMP not power only act as a puppet.
