WP Press Conference Starts

What LTK had said about assisting the govt and Sylvia about being a small party are done deliberately. You think those were unprepared slips of the tongue statements? Those were prepared snippets pulled out at the right moment to send the right messages particularly to the middle ground swing voters.

The reason why WP is able to gain support of the middle ground is in fact this reassurance that it will not rock the boat, only criticize govt policies and plans where these fall short. Of course, it has to help the government to set things right. You mean they should obstruct the government from doing its job? In fact it is this reassurance that they will not destroy the government, the only one that we have in any electoral term, that they have gained swing votes from the middle ground.

Do you think that putting up alternative plans in parliament will get these adopted in parliament? Unless you have enough seats to challenge and your plans have sufficient merit and depth to convince some ruling party members to vote for them, likely these will be good just for target practice. I have to admit that, so far, I am not impressed with any of these. Don't deceive yourself. This is not to say they should not make more noise in parliament. They should. Let us see how this AIM thing will flare up.

It is easy for supporters, whether WP or SDP, to carry flags or banners and shout slogans but to lead a party to achieve success you need a long term strategy, hard work and cunning. LTK has it in him. That is why some forummers call him the wiry fox.

LTK appeals to those groups and I see that's how WP won Alunied, Hougang and now PE. If WP campaigned in say the richer areas of Holland Bukit timah, it wont resound there

That's what I was talking about and and I was shocked and disappointed that LTK said he will assist the govt to work harder. It really undermines their position and shows a lack of confidence as the dominant and only opposition party in parliament. Sylvia also said something that they are still a small party in parliament - a factual statement but it somehow give me the impression that she is indirectly telling the people not to expect too much from them. Its just my impressions and I might be digging too deep into their statements.
When your opponent still holds all the levels of power, better lie low and talk humble. No point stirring up the lumbering pap giant, unless you want the giant to get really angry and start using the club.

Voters now are more informed via alternate media and they are more knowledgeable, as long as we see a long term goal that is good for Singapore, voting pattern will change and we no longer let politicians bullshit us and tell us what to think, it is a long process and maturing fast, the usual tactics use by PAP, dishing out goodies before election, GRC system, instill fear that you may be mark if your are business owner or civil servant, verbal threat and withholding of services controlled by PAP to opposition ward will all fail, people are daring enough to stand up against all this bullying tactics and show them the middle finger.

Yes.. If you talk to the Gen Y-ers, they'll tell you in the face they're no afraid of the vote-us-or-no-upgrading threats used on their parents in the past. Pap needs to rebrand themselves and fast to appeal to the younger voters.

Easier said than done when you have clowns who think they're cool doing this

If PAP don't repent and start serving the interest of Singapore and Singaporeans, they have yet to see what real defeat is.

WP also needs to reflect on the criticisms hurled their way during the rally. Why did PAP and RP accuse them on playing the passive role in the parliament? Surely there's no smoke without fire.

If they've indeed been vocal in parliament, then they must now be visible too.
