The Asian and South American qualifiers have been in progress for quite a while. The European qualifiers are just starting after the Euro 2008 break.

South American qualifiying situation now:

No grouping and no seeding, full league style. All teams to play all other teams over two legs home and away. Total of 18 games per team. 1/3 done now with 6 games played each.

1. Paraguay (13 points, 13-5 goals)
2. Argentina (11 points, 8-3 goals)
3. Colombia (10 points, 4-2 goals)
4. Chile (10 points, 9-9 goals)
5. Brazil (9 points, 8-4 goals)

The top 4 qualify and No. 5 goes into intercontinental play-off.

England is opening its qualifying campaign against Andorra tonight. I think that anything less than a 3-goal winning margin would be considered disastrous.

i expect at least 4-0 or 5-0 scoreline but the forwards for this match is very much limitied.

England's group also contain Croatia (who knocked England out of Euro 2008) and Ukraine. Not making it through may not be surprising.

Tonight (09/06) Andorra v. England.

Wednesday night (09/10) Croatia v.England. That'll be the test.

Half-Time Results:

Andorra 0-0 England
Malta 0-1 Portugal
Hungary 0-0 Denmark
Romania 0-1 Lithuania

Some results:

Austria 3 France 1
Andorra 0 England 2
Spain 1 Bosnia-Herzegovina 0
Cyprus 1 Italy 2
Liechtenstein 0 Germany 6
Romania 0 Lithuania 3
Croatia 3 Kazakhstan 0
Macedonia 1 Scotland 0
Georgia 1 Ireland 2

Argentina 1 Paraguay 1

France and Romania lost their first qualifying matches, look like there are no easy meat now. The performance of England and Argentina are not so good either.

First few games of qualifiers always end up with low scoreline or upset results. Because the urgency to score more is not there and basically most teams would adopt the attitude of collecting 3 points. Furthermore, there is an additional game in midweek, so "conserving energy" is the key. Probably mid of the qualifiers will we get to see bigger scorelines.
Statistically its still profitable to buy UNDER for most games in long run.:p

france coach is under intense presuure after losing......england too isn't doing well against a part time andorra team......england is in serious trouble in the next match against croatia if they don't find a winning formation......

France and Romania were the surprise upsets. Austria didn't play so well when it was co-hosting Euro 2008. A new awakening for Austria perhaps. Its last notable result was 30 years ago in World Cup Argentina 1978, when it beat West Germany (then defending champion) 3:2 and knocked it out of the second round group.

Both Argentina and Paraguay are quite alright on track, even with a draw.

austria do well in early stages of the qualifiers but when it comes 2 those crunch matches.....they tend 2 break down......

Yes, England will be in serious trouble if it loses to Croatia for the third time in a row.

South America's 2010 World Cup Qualifying:

Paraguay is leading the table with 14 points from 7 matches, with Argentina 2 points behind with 12 points from 7 matches.
And Brazil is in 6th position with 9 points in 6 matches.

Today's:
Chile vs Brazil

any brothers have any zhun tip or analysis to share....thanx

Brazil always qualify but seldom go all out to top the qualifying table. Due to the 4 auto-qualifier berths allocated to South America, Brazil seems always happy as long as they stay 3rd or 4th. Now that they've fallen out of the top 4, they must win to get back into the fold. However, Chile looks worth a draw. If Chile wins, Brazil will be in serious trouble, because Uruguay also won last night.

Chile v Brazil

I agree with TS Ramseth. I think Chile shd be good for at least a draw. After six games, Brazil is yet to win away and Chile who has a new coach, seems to have improved since a poor Copa. Btw, Kaka is injured.

True. Just wondering Does Dunga has what it's take to bring Brazil to the World Cup?

if i m not wrong brazil is the only country that have participate in every world cup finals since it started.......won't b the same without it......they will qualify......:D

Chile 0 Brazil 1
Brazil back on track.

FT score Chile lost 0 - 3 to a much improved Brazil who deployed 3 strikers (Fabiano, Robinho and Ronaldhino).
