A young woman lost a litre of blood after having sex for the first time, reported Malaysia newspaper Nanyang Siang Pau.
Miss Xiao Yun from Wuhan, China, reportedly had a serious tear near her cervix and had to be rushed to hospital for treatment.
The report said she and her boyfriend of one year decided to have sex to celebrate her 21st birthday last month.
But the woman felt excruciating pain during sex.
Her boyfriend, who was also a virgin, quickly called the police.
The woman was taken to a hospital, where doctors found a 3cm tear on her cervix and blood gushing out from an artery.
The Chinese daily quoted an expert who said that such incidents were rare.
