SINGAPORE: A former retail executive of SingTel has been sentenced to 18 months' jail for misappropriating more than S$100,000 worth of mobile phones.
33-year-old Rushidah Yusoff would use existing customers' mobile numbers to perform contract renewals and equipment upgrades, or application of new mobile numbers in order to withdraw the inventory from the system.
When she was first found out in October 2012, she declared that she had misappropriated eight phones. However, her colleague later discovered that mobile phones missing from the inventory without accompanying contracts went as far back as 2010.
Rushidah committed the offences between August 2010 and October 2012.
Court documents state that the accused had sold the misappropriated phones to dealers as she was having financial difficulties. - CNA/ac
