His pole hits the ceiling as the escalator went up and punctured into the escalator floor. He should have held the pole horizontal.

What barrier was put up by Smrt. Proper huge standee with clear signage should be placed to ensure no access at all and effective in preventing anyone on handphone from crossing. Smrt never learned and imaging this happened to our loved ones?

This is negligence of the highest order on the part of SMRT.

Perhaps the mechanics servicing the escalator are FTs who are not used to the same safety standards in Singapore.

Both are equally responsible. Like someone said, 90% of the people are engaged with their electronic toys and disregard their own safety. SMRT is also not doing enough. Poorly run company. First the breakdowns, then the strikes, and now the safety issues.

hmm, no barriers!!! I'd not seem yet any when the contractor service the escalator they don't put barriers so far, unless all of sudden the worker all cheong to toilet break... possible????

SMRT save cost hire FTs to do the escalators maintainence and repairs.

MRT platforms are known to be fitted with CCTVs. let's see if this one is working :o:o:o

If it is in their favor, IT IS WORKING, if it is not IT WAS UNDER MAINTENANCE, like the escalator. Since they are doing maintenance work on the escalator, they took off the CCTV for servicing also at that spot... " I am teaching them to give excuses".. ha ha ha ha

Minah using her mobile phone, must have encountered a Biblical Phenomena, the escalator "parted" before her...who knows, another "miracle"..
