Why the cameras in angmo kio?

With all the discussion about mee rebus I decided to visit the food centre at angmo kio for my fix

I notice that at Avenue 6 where there is an overhead bridge, next to the mosque, they have installed a few cameras in the direction of traffic heading towards the city & not in the other direction

Anyone know the purpose of these cameras?

Normally these cameras are used to take pictures of smokey vehicles, but I may be wrong.

The cameras are pointed at the front of cars & not at the rear. There were about 2 cameras pointing at the same lanes. I was thinking that it was related to the intended new north-south highway that is going to be built? However that is still in the distant future.
