In today's TNP, more details were revealed about the case.

1. Three staff members were involved - all foreign workers (nationality unknown). Two of the staff are still working there, while the 3rd had already left the company (reason not related to this case)
2. MOH and the nursing home were informed about the incident in Mid-March. MOH's investigations were completed in early April, suspended the nursing home from admitting new patients wef 12 April.

This happen under Khaw Boon Wan's watch. So these questions should be directly to him:

Why didn't MOH reveal this incident in April 2011?
Why the two culprit still allow to work there?

Yeah he should explain why took three months and still no action taken on these staff.

Waiting for General Erection finish ma... aiyoo...

It may be a good time that Opposition parties start having whistleblowing lines manned by volunteers to pick up on these things more quickly and bring the Govt to account. We hear so much Burmese issues, warlords, Malaysian drug traffickers etc but pay a little attention to our own suffering in old folks home and the like.

I do recall that it was TOC that first highlighted the plight of the homeless. Its a small country, lots of keen people but they seem to want to write policies rather than do the basic things. Let get rid of the numerous committees that mirror the govt and get back to basics.

While I went for some tests in one of NGH polyclinic, I can see patients from many nursing home there assisted by FTs from the home...it's not easy taking care these patients for sure....

As per precedent, they need to wait until FT who committed crime flew off, only Singaporeans no place to run have to go jail.

Especially when the gov't insists on taking a cut from a maid's salary. I met a girl in Batam who used to be a maid in Spore. She had to help care for the family's grandparent. Had to do alot of heavy lifting as well as to care for the children. She quit because of the low pay vs heavy workload

I'm sure Sporeans wouldn't begrudge these maids higher pay. However they can't afford to do this as the gov't collects a monthly tax in the form of the monthly maid levy.

Some sort of legal actions have to be proceeded where such cases are concerned. You cant just be deaf enough. These maids and nurses are a bit low on the financial front and that's why they can't be expected to come out in the stronger manner for their cause. They need our help, they need a better law to help them.
