Why Business Franchising is a Bad Deal
http://www.batr.org/negotium/121113.html

When the consumer patronizes a franchise operation, they are contributing to the demise of an independent and a middle class ownership economy. Boycotting international named brands is a step forward in restoring a prosperous and widely shared shopkeeper economy. Dump the ad hype and buy from local merchants.

Just donated to Breadtalk's franchise Ramenplay. Is that good?

breadtalk cross-subsidizes their soon-to-be expired loaves over to its next-door neighbor, toastbox, for kaya toast, thereby reducing wastage. not a bad model. :p

Yes what ever left over the previous nite, Bread Talk would send them
to Toast Box, sell them as Toasted Bread with Kaya and over price it too!!

In Canada when baked products are near their expiry dates, they are sold at discounted prices.

I've never seen this practice in Spore:confused:

I love this bakery at bk 95 aljunied crescent. I remember when young time 1 red bean bun cost 25 cents. Now it is selling at $1.20. I still make it a point to buy some red bean bun whenever I am around this area.

Franchising isn't all that bad... Can be an instant boss. Save on branding, product creation and marketing.

It really depends on how much...

SwissBake breads (>day old) are discounted in supermarkets like Cold Storage. Also some pastry shops (even in hotels) have "happy hours" late in the day for cakes and stuff. Else, think some volunteer groups bring same to needy or nursing homes.

Back to franchising, is Yakun also franschised? Not same with diff outlets.

Franchising maybe a business model, but consumers get wrong end of stick

delifrance uses the frenching model, oops i mean to say, frenchising model. :p

You should read the rest of the article which I have linked to.

Technically, you may be a 'boss' instantly, but there'll be plenty of restrictions and inconveniences forced upon you. In other words, you're that corporation's bitch.
