Why did SPP under Lina Chiam lose by such a big margin in GE2015?

It is clear as daylight that the woman is basically an airhead and hardly a good representative of Chiam See Tong. Look at her.... starts off the rally speech by reminding everyone she was late!

I agree without any reservations. Friends and a relative who voted in Potong Pasir predicted beforehand that she will lose by a big margin for 3 simple reasons: 1. As you have put it succintly, she is basically an airhead; full of form(wayang) but little substance (brain matter). 2.
People genuinely like CST and supported him openly but not the wife whom many supported at best grudgingly so as to keep it safe for the SPP. 3. Sitoh is a hardworking MP with huge resources at his disposal.;)

1. Unlike LTK, CST never groomed a credible successor. That was his Achilles' heel – his authoritarian ways have rubbed many members the wrong way. (One CEC member was sacked the day after he brought up the need to 'revamp' SDP – this was in '85. Won't mention names.)

2. Lina was not a credible successor. Putting her in PP is like letting Ho Ching replace LHL as PM; the people were pissed and SPP lost the ward.

3. Lina was given a second chance as an NCMP. Though she put in some effort, asked many questions, her limitations were apparent for all to see. After 4 years, who would give her another chance?

The day CST left PP for Bishan-Toa Payoh, he lost PP for good.

Ironically, Chiam's only legacy left is found in a party that he is no longer part of, which is the SDP. SDP now houses talents like Tambyah but only because Chiam had founded the party in 1980.

As for his SPP, it will be obliterated soon and Potong Pasir will become like another PAP ward or be absorbed into GRC and disappear forever.

I'd beg to disagree with you on this. If Ho Ching were to stand in for LHL as PM in the case in which the latter passed away, I'm sure 69.9% of Sinkies would support her. Please remember that LHL already has a strong mandate of the electorate at the latest GE.

whether in or out does not matter
same goes for LKT of aljunied
practically collecting mp allowance without really address important issues

they should ask HdB to open the book
since it claimed to be losing 2 billions.

That's the real truth. No easy task for her to face-off with just one PAP MP. And she has to deal with all MIW and the government machinery.
