[h=2]Why be new citizen?[/h]
I got a really talented, humble and hardworking PR friend who was recently asked to be a new citizen. He asked me what is the benefit of becoming a new citizen. Since he is really a desirable FT and not a cheap replacement, I gave him some answers I can think of.
- You don't need to do NS. I need to. I defend you free of charge. If got war, I die, you don't need to die.
- cheaper HDB flats.
- cheaper school fees for your children
Any more?
He also asked me what is bad about becoming a new citizen. I told him;
- Pay higher CPF. May become discriminated by employers.
- Maybe your home country becomes more prosperous than Singapore in future.
