I received a mail saying that we can sell our Singtel Shares from now till Nov this year. Almost forgotten about those stupid shares. The cash will be paid directly into our bank accounts registered with the govt. I just went to Singpost today and sold all my 600 shares.

I sold my 1,610 Singtel SDS and received $7,523 into my registered bank account with CPF Board in about 5 working days.

Do not refuse any money that the SG govt hands you like some idiots who returned the Covid-19 relief payout because they were still employed then. That is a small fraction of our money which the govt is returning to us.

So, sinkies has some money now to tide over the high cost of living for the time being the garment has less or no burden to give CDC vouchers,

The annual CDC vouchers are even less than the amount of income tax I pay in a month.

Wasn't this during the Goh Chok Tong PM era? I was too young to buy shares then.

In October 1993, Singtel became a public company. The IPO represented 11 per cent of Singtel shares which were traded for the first time on the Stock Exchange of Singapore (now known as SGX) on 1 November 1993.
During the IPO, the SDS scheme was introduced as part of the Singapore Government's asset enhancement programme to make Singapore a share-owning society, giving Singaporeans a greater stake in the country.
Singaporean CPF members were able to buy Singtel SDS at a discounted price in 1993 (ST "A" shares) and 1996 (ST2 shares). CPF Board was appointed as trustee of Singtel SDS.

Hope you enjoyed the 'greater stake in the country'... whatever that means. LOL! :roflmao:
