Try using cash. Don't be a typical Sinkee Chinkee and try to profit from a wedding banquet either via ang pows or points. Its bad karma and why most Chinkee marriages end in divorce within 3 years.

use and spend within your mean and limit.
you will get burnt very easily using those cards if you are not careful.

at 24% or even 16% at preferred rates, have you gone mad?

write a check and don't go into debt to get married

Amazing unsinkified statement to the point. I could not have said it better. Have you thought of making it to the unsinkified Hall of Fame?

30k......i think POSB credit card is good. They give you points which you use to offset your future purchases

Is your credit limit $30K? If not call up the bank to arrange for a temporary raise in credit limit. Explain to them you intend to charge $30K for your wedding on this certain day. Most banks will be more than happy to give you a temporary raise in credit limit.

POSB has quite attractive incentives. You can consider using POSB credit card. You get some pretty good rebates and a 5-year annual fee waiver.

ignore idiots like tonychat who have only negative things for anything singaporean. think u should consider those with frequent flyer mileage so that you can get yourself a free ticket to somewhere.

for those uninitiated, he is going to use his credit card to pay, earn points and den use his angpow money to pay off the credit card bills

u shld wait if you can for some promo, eg GSS sometimes if u spend above a certain amt on the CC, u can redeem prizes or free holidays

I understand that Citi Bank Dividend Card earns 2% cash rebate, you actually received a cheque from Citi Bank once in every 3 months. Find out more details from the Citi Bank website. I don't like those credit cards that earn points to redeem goods and services.

Credit cards is good for expenditures tracking and PAY FULL when due. Interest incurred is still interest no matter how small they are. ;)

paying by credit card to earn points & get 1 mth credit is just being prudent, as long as it's paid in full.

doublechin, 30k on a AmexPlat will net you enought points from Starwood to redeem 3-4 nights in a lower category Westin/LeMeridien hotel. have a good wedding.
