Qn: for orders from iherb, does currency conversion fee charged by DBS bank cost more for credit card or debit card?

Thanks for any reply!

AI Overview

For a DBS Visa Debit Card linked to the multi-currency My Account or Multiplier Account, you pay no currency conversion fees on foreign currency spend because you can pre-purchase and hold currencies in your account, and the transaction is debited in the currency you hold. If you use a general DBS/POSB Visa/Mastercard credit or debit card without this setup, a credit card incurs a 1% conversion charge plus administrative fees (up to 2.25%), and a standard debit card incurs a higher charge of up to 3.25% total.

I see many (high SES?) Tiongs use this card.

a lot of hidden charges for overseas spend
Eg. exchange rate - you lose a few percent (I lost 8% for using SCB card for JPY)
Eg. overseas spending - 1% surcharge on top of the amount

Therefore for buying things in foreign currencies, i recommend Revolut or Youtrip.

Unless you're in Tiongland, where Wechat Pay or Alipay are the default payment methods.

For other countries, for small purchases, that's what a moneychanger is for.
