Where are our WP Oppositions? Silent?

During the elections, WP promised to be our voice to the government.

Now that they have been elected as MPs and we have 6 of them, where are they in voicing out our concerns regarding the recent surged in cost of everything, Casinos record earnings linking to loan sharking and social problems, Public Transport quality, flash flooding every less than 50 days....etc?

Don't tell me that they just talk only during parliament sessions, hiding behind immunity protection. Or they are waiting to talk again 5 years later?

Being an elected MP is more than just attending parliament sessions and doing Town Council work for the constituents. It is to voice out people's concerns and especially being the oppositions, they have to be the "devil's advocate" to challenge and put the government to tasks.

You are probably unaware that Parliament has not sat since GE2011. So, they would not have been able to speak up in Parliament.

As for speaking up outside Parliament, I think WP MPs have been doing their fair share.

On the yet to sit parliament, one wonders if this delay is a deliberate attempt to lengthen the current term as much as possible to delay the inevitable rout in 2016/17. Also, the Parliament website still shows the former MPs and Speaker as current. Is this lapse in administration or a petty attempt to prevent the WP MPs from taking their seats during NDP?

I rather they remain silent then debate in parliament just for the sake of making debating.
They should not oppose any policies but just state their positions.

I am afraid that by the time parliament convene, it becomes too late as changes are already done. Then it become debate for the sake of debating. Talk and no action. Is that what we want?

I personally rather they issue press statement each time an issue arises, voicing their stance on behalf of the 40% of people that voted for them during the GE.

PAP is now doing just that and scoring political points. Those President hopefuls are doing that as well. I am just wondering how long should our elected opposition MPs remain silent, like they don't care, they are not involve, they become disconnected or they really go jia hong?

WP or even the SDP have not been in silence, that is if you have been reading and following beyond just this forum.

Even if Parliament convene, opposition can still only talk. What changes can they make with 6 out of 87 voices? Don't think'you understanding how politics work at all.

Please follow the frequent updates at the Workers Party facebook.. Being silent does not mean they are not doin their jobs.. in fact they are quitely doin their jobs without any fanfare that the Shit Times accorded to the PAP Ministars.. Be patient.. Wait till Parliament convene..

Parliament haven't convene. Check out Gerald Giam & Yaw Shin Leong's blog, while I think CSM prefers to use Facebook "Notes". They do voice out on certain issues.
