What to greet when meet face to face with LHL

In the army, it is an offence not to greet officer as "Sir". As a civilian, when we meet our PM, is it also mandatory to greet as Sir ?
What will happen if we simply say "Lee" , w/o the Mr ?
How will you greet him ?
