US actually wanted China to become a Democratic country like US. but like what i stated before, the leaderships and people were not ready. they actually can have congress with KMT, CCCP and other political parties inside elected by the people to run the country. It is true that it is forbidden to perform the Nazi salute in Germany. It is also a jailable offence to wear the Nazi/SS uniforms or display the Nazi logo anywhere. German parents are not allowed to name their sons "Adolf", the government will not recognise it on the birth certificate.

Japan never did any of these things. They did not pay reparations to the families of POWs or comfort women. In fact they denied a lot of wrong doings. But, if you were Japan, how would you feel? The Americans did not apologise for the nukes, nor did they pay reparations to Japan for the millions of people (mostly civilians) who died in the nuclear attacks.

To this day, Japan is the only country to have been nuked, not once but twice.

That's nothing. Germany executed hundreds of thousands of Russian troops in POW camps. Some camps were set aside solely for officers, and they were given even worse treatment than the normal soldiers. Even Generals were not spared.

Russia and Germany hated each other intensely because it was an ideological struggle -- Nazism (National Socialism) vs Communism.

On the other hand, the Germans fought in a more "gentlemanly" manner against the British.

Hitler ordered that no Russian soldier was to be captured or taken into custody even if they surrendered. All Russians were to be shot on sight, whether armed or unarmed, and whether they were medics or not. They did not shoot British medics.

Strangely russians are considered pure whites by nationalists. They are slavic people. Russia is also one of the few countries with very strong nationalistic/racist sentiments. even if japan were to go for broke and militarize in a gigantic effort, their youth and new generation of kids who would man the war machine would be up to no par in world standards. and cannot sustain an all out brutal global war of attrition. first, they need critical mass, which they have not enough since the old and dying outnumber the young and able by a large factor. second, forget about critical mass. they can't even reproduce enough. third, the young are pampered and highly treasured by parents and grannies. they will not sacrifice their young for a futile war knowing they already are in the deep deficit on reproduction. fourth, there is not enough land mass and hinterland depth in japan for prolonged war of total destruction. they can dig deep underground, but there are weapons today that target deep bunkers. a sizable continental land mass would render deep surgical strikes of bunker and tunnel busting bombs ineffective as assets could be spread out more and better hidden due to sheer size of area. fifth, lack of material and resources.

it would be better for japan to concentrate on robotics, drones and remote warring by console (like playing nintendo ) than build up a military machine based on conventional concepts.

it was a misconception that Chiang Kai Shek refused to enter into a coalition with Mao Zedong. During the Marshall Mission, Chiang gave in to nearly every single Mao demands. the Communist want to have people in the cabinet and the country council. Chiang agreed to it. the Communist employed plenty of tricks to delay the realization of the political settlement. every time, the Kuomintang accepted the Communist's conditions. the Communist would add in some new conditions again. Mao refused to incorporate his Army into the Central Government Army. How could Chiang accept a private Communist army apart from the rest of country's troops. both sides continued to fight on the battlefields while making peace talks in Nanking.

to be fair to Mao. he simply cannot trust Chiang and the Kuomintang. Chiang couldn't trust Mao and the Communist too. too much blood had been shed between both sides. too many promises had been broken. there was no way that the Chinese Nationalist and Communist with totally different ideologies can amalgamate to form a coalition government back then. there was no viable three party force in China. the CCP was a puppet of Soviet Russia to take over China by proxy. the only hopes for a democratic free China laid in the hands of the Chinese Nationalists. the KMT government were the United States valiant and loyal ally during WW2. the United States had to support the KMT against the Communist for its own interest and the interest of China and her people. but the United States didn't.

Nobody is defending anything here . War is war , there's no right or wrong . By the way what's wrong with invading china ? If men can develop weapons what's the problem of using it ?
