On talking point, someone called in to ask her "Are you proud to win the meddle under the Singapore flag or the China flag"
FTW replies "It doesn't matter which flag I represent, as long as I am given the chance to shine... To be proud of myself... China is the country I was born in, Singapore is the country that gave me this chance"
The host then asked her "So are you proud to be representing the Singapore flag??"
She avoided answering the question with a yes or no, and said "I am thankful to Singapore for giving me this chance"
To me, it means she will take off and return to China after all these.

I've never been proud of any country as it's nothing more than an artificial boundary.
Neither would I be proud of any achievement that had nothing to do with me.
I take pride only in successes that I had a hand in directly or indirectly.
Not a fair question. Singapore paid her to win and she did. She did not come to Singapore for our flag. By the way ping pong mercenaries are everywhere in the world. Kudos to FTW for giving an honest answer.

lianbeng noted that at least she knows where her roots are and will return to her motherland eventually.
the country where she's born in is different from the country that gave her a chance u know?
she is short of saying: “我妈还在老家等我呢!”:p
