What do you think of Feng Tian Wei's Answer?

Guess you arent proud of what Singapore is today vs 1965?

I've never been proud of any country as it's nothing more than an artificial boundary.

Neither would I be proud of any achievement that had nothing to do with me.

I take pride only in successes that I had a hand in directly or indirectly.

On talking point, someone called in to ask her "Are you proud to win the meddle under the Singapore flag or the China flag"

FTW replies "It doesn't matter which flag I represent, as long as I am given the chance to shine... To be proud of myself... China is the country I was born in, Singapore is the country that gave me this chance"

The host then asked her "So are you proud to be representing the Singapore flag??"

She avoided answering the question with a yes or no, and said "I am thankful to Singapore for giving me this chance"

To me, it means she will take off and return to China after all these.

The Brits should come back to Singapore and send your dirty animals back to barn in swineland.

It;s the same with those PRCs released to Takazhistan etc. In China, they are nothing, but outside China, in any country, they have the chnace to represent that country in the Olympics. The PRC govt is rather glad to do this via Olympics diplomacy or Olympics colonisation.

Not a fair question. Singapore paid her to win and she did. She did not come to Singapore for our flag. By the way ping pong mercenaries are everywhere in the world. Kudos to FTW for giving an honest answer.

The issue is not that they are from PRC but that they will not stay here once they are done earning their keep. They will all return to their motherland. If they could learn to speak English it will go a long way to show their interest in staying here for the long term. It's obvious what their long term intentions are. Only the shameless and shameful PAPzis will pretend otherwise.

she came to Singapore to not hold the flag properly

She answered diplomatically, and didn't lie.
Quite good already. What were you expecting?

The way she answer. I respect her. Because she telling the truth. Her heart still with China. Just that she dont speak out.
Rather than she telling lie. Eg. lie comment. I proud of winning for Sg and carry SG flag.

lianbeng noted that at least she knows where her roots are and will return to her motherland eventually.:D
the country where she's born in is different from the country that gave her a chance u know?
she is short of saying: “我妈还在老家等我呢!”:p

I very much second what u have said. Brilliant! Firstly, just like u and me, FTW has no choice over her country of birth and so for her it is China. Secondly, she came to Sinkapore because she was talent-scouted and for that give her credit where credit is due. She was invited just like others before her who were given citizenship in countries such as Sweden, Germany,France and Australia. Thirdly let's face it, FTW is a superb table-tennis player. She didn't achieve bronze by luck alone. Finally let's call a spade a spade; table-tennis is table-tennis and no longer ping pong unless one intends to be mean spiteful and derogatory like the Americans. Ping pong diplomacy belongs to the realm of geo-politics and not the sporting arena.

FTW took her opportunity.
LBW created her opportunity.
I prefer the former to the latter.

Kong Lang jiao Wei la... Blah blah blah blah......one hand cannot forget mother land, the other hand cannot resist the $$$$$$$$. Correct bo? Puiiiiiiii!!!!!!
