What are our National Games ? Anyone played before ???

Hamtam bola was my favourite during recess time in the late 60s. That type of bola not seen in the market since the mid-70s.

Bro, in ang mor, it's called "Dodgeball". There was even a movie about this game.

yes hamtam bola also my favourite game. maybe we both came from the same primary school. yes, we played hamtam bola during our recess time and i have one class-mate who was super skilful in taking your ball at close range and then hamtam you bokok! those were wonderful years!!! and we continued to play the hamtam in secondary school....and when the ball is wet and dirty, our shirts were all stained. but nobody fought or used vulgarities or any obscenities. we were all gentlemen. lost smile.won smile.all friends and all races.no integration needed. we were all united as ONE FAMILY....and even now, we still have our mini get-togethers - all races, all religions and all colours.no need to have any integration advise or agenda. it all came naturally....

Thanks bro. Recalled using tennis ball when the plastic one was not available.

the soft plastic ball was okay. but we did use the hard tennis ball and it was really a fierce and painful game. but we all enjoyed ourselves. maybe we should tell the integration council to use cotton balls.

We used to play with this soft rubber ball in primary school.
Once I played until fell down into the m&d and dirtied one side of my uniform.
When my form teacher asked me to go up to the blackboard to do a sum, I tried to hide it from her by standing with the dirty part against the blackboard. She gave me the most incredulous look. :D

With national obsession on table tennis and Olympic achievements, I suggest use ping pong ball.

When bell sounded for recess, it was not to line-up to buy makan. It was straight to the courtyard for hamtam bola first. No point Q-up for food first. Waste time. Would usually leave the last 3 minutes to makan whatever stall wasn't crowded. Those were the days. Would return to classroom with shirt all wet. Hamtam bola was great. No discrimination. Anyone could join in even if from different class.

I am now able to visualise the ball used. About the size of a tennis ball. Easier to grab than a tennis ball. Green in colour with some red on the ball made from rubber.

Mine was brand new "Dunlop" brand Tennis Ball, the white coloured ones & later when the fluorescent yellow came out, brought that to school for Hatam Bola...you get hit by one, guarantee to leave a lasting impression!. Talking about impression, when the school field gets "ponded" ( yes, with tadpoles swimming in them), the tennis ball hits you, it leaves an imprint on the shorts, pants & shirts!.

How to play hatam bola with plastic ball encik? you mean rubber ball..:p maybe pinky should play hatam bola...oh I forgot...that is his National Games, like his daddy, he HATAM SINgaporeans BOLA!! ha ha ha ha:D

Never eat, just go straight to the field to play...hatam bola, marbles, or 'gamble' with the picture cards...etc thirty, drink from the school toilet taps..where we have water dispenser...no food...but we grow up strong & hearty, not the wimpy kids we see today..there were no feeling of races, it was 'all men are brothers' back then...but my school, didn't have pupil of a certain race, unfortunately, if I ever recall, there were only ONE

when the ball was soaking wet and heavy, that was when you would kena painful and dirty marks on your body - damned painful and damned dirty too. i would quietly wash my own shirt and trousers hiding away from my mum. those were fun days!!! so fun!

Yes, & try to wash off all the m&d from the school shoes & socks, which was WHITE in the morning..I recall having to hide them, till mum doesn't see & washes them myself quietly.. the shirts & pants..just say, play in the field...and boys will be boys..she knows!

as long as he is surrounded by all his porlumpar, he can never feel, get or touch the ground. but what the use of feel, get or touch the ground? when you dont empathize, listen and take responsibilities and action to make people life better???
