You may call it "sucking up" but what he is actually doing is serving the people and acknowledging that without their support the PAP is powerless.
The people respond by giving the PAP a resounding mandate every 5 years. That is what politics is all about.

The m&d see the chink so scrawny and bespectacled, can try to makan. I stare at them all the time. I even told some of them not to ride on the footpaths. Some obeyed, some acted blur and looked away. I would like this m&d to try with me. Cheebye m&d!
Good that GMS knows that what he is doing is right. Do you agree that confining e scooters to cycling paths and park connectors overnight is a gross over reaction? E scooters and other PMDs are not a new phenomena. LPM and KBW have a whole ministry. They have been used by many countries for several yrs. Why is PAP so inept? To prevent deaths and injuries and allow people their livelihood, LPM have to be more intelligent and wise. Allowing pmds on footpaths is a big mistake and MOT has to take responsibility for the loss of lives and injuries. Kicking e-bikes onto roads is anoher mistake which will cause loss of lives and injuries.
So GMS is right and LPM is wrong
PAP manipulating old people to serve own self is wrong
Go to the grassroots and see the old people who are fed with half truths by PA
Many of these people will be given free dinner, free transport, free T-shirts and other freebies to attend pap functions

Every 5 years the government presents its manifesto and puts it to the vote.
The citizens of Singapore make two decisions before casting their vote.
1) Has the government lived up to its promises?
2) Does the party manifesto reflect what I want for my future?
They weigh up the odds for the future based upon their judgement of the past and cast their vote accordingly.
69% are happy with the PAP.
That is how the system works in a democracy.

That is not what majority Sinkie see it..Order and Safety have always been main concern of kiasi Sinkie..Sinkies have been cocoon in PAP peace and prosperity for many decades so a bunch of riff raff delivery folks disrupting order is big no no. By acting swiftly on a situation that is increasingly going out of control is vintage decisive politic by PAP.
Nothing wrong if you use your own money.
Nothing wrong if an MP gives a buffet and pays for it.
But it is wrong when he uses tax payers' money to pay
