This mediacorp produced program apparently asks contestants questions relating to Singapore. I haven't watched it but have seen the highlights/shots during TV commercials.

Ok, understand that they show mostly the ridiculous answers in the highlights for comic purposes and to attract viewers. Anyway, it's not surprising that many people are ignorant or uninformed about general knowledge and SG's history.

What amazes me is some of the answers people give to questions which they obviously know nothing about. For example, to a question on SG's independence date, someone gave a ridiculous random date, which I forget.

Don't know the answer, fine, just say don't know.
But where did they learn to give a ridiculous random answer to something they know nothing about? Did they learn this from their parents or their teachers or their friends, to give an absurd answer when they have no idea what the correct answer is?

dunno? ...

juz anyhow hantum ...

anyhow smoke oso can ...

wrong got nutting 2 lose :o ... correct got points! ...

These are commercial game shows that crave for viewership and sensation. The have a selection process which will pick the most ridiculous clowns so as to stir up comments and talk-abouts to help popularise the show. I still prefer the Taiwanese game shows. :D

Those absurd answers given were not even part of the show, they were just asked to people on the street. Hence, there were no points even for correct answers!

Let's say if they knew that national day was 9 Aug, but didn't know the year of independence, I could understand if they anyhow hantum the year.
But some had no clue of the date or the year and could still come up with a random answer like 22 Feb 1990!

Where did they learn this from?

That's why I can understand the producers screening the absurd replies.
What I don't understand is who taught those people to give ransom absurd replies to questions they have no clue about. Would it not be better and less stupid just to simply say "I don't know what to say"? :o :D

THE NOOSE si bo? ?? :D

No, it's not part of the Noose, which is actually quite funny with the talented Michelle Chong.

It's a standalone quiz show, shown on Wed nights.

Seriously, until now I never enjoyed watching local game show production because I feel so ashamed for those clowns. So I switch channel or off the TV. :D
