FYI In Canada the normal occupancy is 2 per room. Originally it was 4 to 6 per room but this was changed decades ago as newer hospitals replaced the old ones. There are of course single room available if you have medical need or are covered by extra health insurance.
I remember that I was once put into a single room because they were shutting down for the Xmas holidays & were trying to squeeze all the patients into as few wards as possible.
You can also rent a personal TV if you want. It's extra & not covered by the medical health plan
