A 35-YEAR-OLD Vietnamese woman was arrested on Monday for offering a bribe to two CID officers.

She had offered them a bribe of S$330 when the two officers came across her during an anti-vice operations at Lorong 12 Geylang.

She was found in a room with a man and, suspecting her of being involved in vice-related activities, Senior Staff Sergeant Azman Hasim and Sergeant Tan Yi Li questioned her.

She pleaded with them not to take action against her and offered them a stack of $10 notes, and then offered a second bribe of three $50 notes on top of the original amount.

The woman was placed under arrest for bribery and her case has been referred to the Corrupt Practices Investigations Bureau.

Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Ng Boon Gay commended the two officers for their high level of integrity.

Reason why the police didn't take the bribe...
1) 35 year old HEN not pretty at all.
2) $330 is too low to risk their career.

The two officers for their high level of integrity... Hahaha... They will the stupidest police if they take the $$$.

She should be charged with attempting to bribe law enforcement officers with too low a bribe too. Ten dollars then raise to fifty dollars? Ptui! :D

If i am a police officer, at least $100,000 then i close 2 eyes and take the money let her go. $330 is too little.

It's not high integrity, it's too low.

since when does singapore police go into hotel room? I thought only PRC do that, why would singapore police want to do this?? gross invasion of privacy.

It means Equalisation and Besotted only like PRC.

Cheowyonglee only likes ROC.

Take $330 for what ? what if the Vietnam lady turn around and say that the 2 officer take bribe. That the end for the officers. Whereas the Vietnam lady will be issued a white card ( special pass ) , continue to work and earn money. Look at the MOM officer who was being set up by the PRC woman not too long ago.

$330 ?????????? I cant even pay my utility bills alone.

who one kena worse in court?

bribery or prostitution?

You commend a person when that person goes out of his way to do something good. For instance, a member of public who facilitated an arrest.
Or when someone, whether member of public or civil servant endangers his own life to save another.

Surely, we should not commend the two CID officers for doing what is expected from them. "High level of integrity" is to be expected from law enforcement officers. It isn't something extra-ordinary or spectacular. Unless "high level of integrity" is a rare quality in the police force today.

When you bribe or attempt to bribe a civil servant, it is very serious compared to bribing someone in the private sector. Refer to the Prevention of Corruption Act for more details.

Prostitution per se is not an offence. Soliciting in public is. I don't see any offence being with a person of another sex in a hotel room. If so, thousands of such an offence committed everyday at Hotel 81, Fragrance and all other hotels in S'pore.
