Nowhere is it stated in the quran about jerusalem or even mecca being holy sites in the muslim holy book. The word mecca is not even in it.

The moslem quran supposedly implied that mahomet flew to his version of heaven from Jerusalem.

If the moslem religion believed that their god is everywhere, they wouldn't be bowing before that silly stone in mecca when praying.

Fact is mecca was a backwater during the time of the caliphs.
They were more interested in baghdad, andalusia, Egypt, samarkand, Tashkent, Damascus, trading ports in china and indua That was as far as arabs could go.
The mongols and their allies the turks took it further into india, eastern roman empire including Constantinople, parts of russua and Ukraine and all the way to Baltic sea and parts of western china.
Nobody talked about mecca. Not even the moghuls of india,
Chen ho sailed to africa and didn't stop in mecca.
