The muslims believe Mahomat ascended to heaven from the site of al aqsa mosque, but arabs conquered jerusalemm only after mahomet's death.
Nowhere is it stated in the quran about jerusalem or even mecca being holy sites in the muslim holy book. The word mecca is not even in it.
