Does this Anime resemble Shakespeare to you?

This anime is based on 2 Shakespeare novel which is hamlet and the tempest. This anime has some plot twist that is not obvious at the first glance and the way they unravel it is kind of brilliant in a way. the pacing on the first cour is good but on the second cour it's kind of abhorrent, like darling in the Fran kind of pacing, this is apparent because they crammed almost last 70% of adapted material in one cour. The first cour really makes it shine and the op is banger, too bad the second cour doesn't did it justice Don't take it wrong, the series as it whole is brilliant, only the second cour pacing what makes it a bummer, the stories itself is amazing (except some unnecessary soul-searching part that is so exaggerated it should be cut down to give shine to the second cour story). To be honest you can finish the Anime here and read the manga about the second cour for better experience overall

Plot[edit]

The story revolves around Mahiro Fuwa, a teenage high school student whose younger step-sister Aika (who was also the longtime girlfriend of his childhood friend Yoshino Takigawa) was mysteriously murdered along with their parents one year before. Mahiro is contacted by Hakaze Kusaribe, the leader of the Kusaribe clan who was left stranded on an unknown deserted island by her followers, and agrees to help Hakaze in exchange for her help to find out the culprit responsible for the tragic death of his family. Upon learning of his friend's intentions, Yoshino joins him on his quest to stand up against the rest of the Kusaribe clan who intends to awaken the "Tree of Exodus" whose power can bring ruin to the entire world.[3]

Several dialogues and plot elements in Zetsuen no Tempest pay homage to two works of William Shakespeare, Hamlet and The Tempest, which are two stories about retribution, albeit with completely opposing outcomes.[4]

There you go. "Pay homage" is a lot more accurate than "based on".
