Very Capable Old NSman Asked to Be Security Guard Or Cleaner

...that you won't stand a chance against the cheaper FTs from India or Philippines. We have seen the recent example of how an Ah Neh woman from some shit school could land a cushy job in Sinkieland.

With her type of qualification from that shitty school in India, the ah neh bitch (what's her name) can only get a job as bus conductor in India. She must have some kind of shady connection to get the cushy job in sinkie land.

is that even possible?theres almost no barrier to entry on these online sites,u are like competing with 10,000 others cheaper better faster from other lands....
what kind of wages can u possibly hope for?

besides i dont feel like i have any interest in IT or web development,is it possible to pick up some other field like accounting and find freelance work?

As is the case with all endeavors, you have to work at establishing yourself in the niche of your choice.

My rates are USD75 per hour and I get an average of about 15 to 20 hours worth of work monthly from around 5 clients who I have been doing work for over a period of time.

I also solicit MySQL database rescue and repair work but I don't do it myself because I am not good enough at it. I get the business and then subcontract it to a real expert and make a bit of money as middleman.

There is a big market for accounting work from small businesses who don't want to do their own accounts. It's actually easy money provided you're familiar with the tax laws of the country. With software such as Xero, all the transactions are captured and all you have to do is code the transactions correctly and the software does the rest.

If he's any good at scripting languages and web design, why does he need to look for a job?

He can easily earn a good living with those skills.

To be fair, I agreed with you. The world is your oyster if there are significant traffic to your Web page, provided you must have fresh content as Google spider loves them.

That's why I love my forums. Everybody else adds the content. All I have to do is keep the forum going. :p

You should ask LKY how to be employed even after 86 yo.

He is employed to do nothing except keep his mouth open. For that, he gets $192,500. Then his million dollar pension. And for this MP, he gets many bodyguards as well.

Why?????? This is how arrogant the PAP is ...it blatantly abuse the use of our tax dollars.

i dunno whether ur claims are realistic or not...but i might as well give it a shot if im gonna do minimum wage jobs for the rest of my life....plus freelance accountant means i can freelance while in australia and overseas.to be honest i happy to be doing anything else even if it only pays $6 an hour.

now the question is where do i start?im very afraid of failure so i need baby steps to figure out if i can make it or not.....should i like take up a part time course at ITE or something?

I'm simply describing my own experiences. There are loads of people who have never earned a cent on elance and freelancer.

Same goes with forums. There are tons of vbulletin and delphi forums out there that are virtual graveyards and never got off the ground simply because the host thought all that was necessary was to start a forum and then sit back and watch the traffic grow. It doesn't work that way. It's a hard grind.

When I closed the delphi coffee shop, more than 10 alternatives sprung up on the delphi platform. Only one has survived ie 3 in 1 kopitiam.

If you're afraid of failure, then you'll never try. Failure is extremely common. I've failed countless times. However, all you need is a few winners and it makes up in more ways than one.

True. Never accept failure as defeat; it is in fact experience gained. Get up and try again but avoid the mistakes that made you fail. Perseverance is the key to staying afloat in pursuit of your dreams. Even a bankrupt always has another chance if he does not give up.

.... but how do you get rid of him? Can you get the voters in TP GRC to kick him out in GE2016? If you can, he is gone.

I pay my accountant $180 per month to do my books.

He has about 50 small businesses clients at any time paying around the same amount. That's $9000 per month. Most of the time, he doesn't have to do much as he uses Xero to handle all the book keeping.

If the IRD does an audit, he'll handle it for $2000 to $5000 per audit depending on the complexity.

If it's a viable business for him, why can't it be viable for you?

BTW why aren't you trying to make it big? If you try, you may succeed or you may fail. If you don't try you'll definitely fail.

Your fear is real and is the main stumbling block for that first step. Just to share the following preparatory steps which worked for me.

1. While still under employment, downgrade lifestyle so as to determine the minimum monthly sum needed to survive at a level you and your family can bear. It also helps to prepare the family members.

2. Decides on how to secure the first job and understand the basic requirement and needs of clients

3. Have saving to survive for about a year based on the downgraded lifestyle without income.

4. If situation permit, moonlight while still under current job to have hands on experience for the new trade.

5. Give 101% service to the first set of clients. Focus on service and delivery, not profit, so as to build your base and reputation.

Soon you will be out on your own with confidence and no regret
