2. In a World where most have PhDs, it will be the garage mechanic who will be king, as only he is willing to get his hands dirty to repair and make good dire circumstances of others' lives.
Point is - it takes ALL kinds to CONTRIBUTE to the EVOLUTION & PROGRESS of Humanity, thus NONE should be left behind or looked down upon.
3. We, citizens of Singapore, thru our ELECTED representatives in Parliament and Cabinet, can only help those WHOM are willing to help themselves, to HONESTLY earn the CRITICAL living of life, to put food on the table for themselves, their loved ones, family, relatives an friends.
We will not leave anyone behind as our founding and forefathers whom had given us our todays had taught us and left their legacy to us, this generation, a debt of honor that must be repaid, not to them as they had done their part and sadly left us, but for future innocent generations to come...to keep our Nation alive, as per our Constitution and Sacred National Pledge.
Charity can never last forever, just like CDC or GST vouchers. Dependencies on such will only create a 'crutch mentality' - presuming that money will always drop from the skies, which is only a fantasy, as such money is little but still, the best that WE can give as support, a leg up to better opportunities in life - bus fare and food to get employed, a better delicious meal for once, a family outing to our islands isles, etc, etc, as social welfare for other needs are ENORMOUS - healthcare, education, infrastructure, security, etc, etc.
We, Singaporeans will help as much as we can spare, but ultimately, one whom has a head, hands and legs, MUST help themselves first, and want help, which may come in the form of advices from the wise as well as suggestions from the successful, or enlightened employers, friends, etc, to at the least TRY, to elevate not only their lives, but their loved ones too....
We believe in you, as you and others are DESCENDANTS of our Founding and Forefathers, whom had HELPED built our Nation thru IMPOSSIBLE times, and given us our todays.....and would be far more capable to contribute to the progress and evolution of our Nation, if not for society but at the least for your family - the building blocks of Civilization, your loved ones, relatives and friends
Without such efforts from the individuals.....sadly.... all efforts would only be wasted, which could had been better spent by those whom are willing to help themselves, regardless if they are aged, or have existing physical disabilities or societal perceptions, such as the thread's video persona, by us to help thru creating opportunities and environment for growth and evolution, which he or others would had not found anywhere else in our much, much troubled World of todays....
