KUALA LUMPUR - Two men responsible for a number of rapes and other sexual crimes in the Klang Valley while posing as policemen have been arrested. Their latest victim, a 19-year-old girl, gave police a description of the suspects after they had lured her to a secluded area and sexually assaulted her. Following a tip-off from a member of the public, police arrested one suspect on Jan 22. This led to the arrest of the second man the next day.
The two men, aged 29 and 30, had used fake identification cards and walkie-talkies when they approached the victim in Chow Kit on Jan 12. They asked her to follow them to the police station but instead took her to a secluded area in Sri Hartamas where they sexually assaulted her. City police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Muhammad Sabtu Osman said that the suspects were believed to be involved in two other rape cases and a motorcycle theft case in Serdang and Kajang.
