Good summary bro. I too love the weather. The thing that bugs me is the monkey bars, electric fence and collapsible gate at the top of the staircase for a double storey. One interesting observation is that all these apply even for the best suburbs.

After a few days, I can't fathom the security routine on a daily basis. Even for a gated community, the outside perimeter is no different to a prison. The no stopping allowance granted to the ladies at traffic junctions does provide a clue to the state of affairs.

But go to say - beautiful country. Lots of opportunities plus cost of living very cheap.

The weather in Cape Town is much better than say Perth.
The hot summer is cooled by rain and the winter is milder.

South Africa has a much better climate than Australia, which is why it is known as The World in One Country.
Like the Aussie's red centre, SA has the karoo ...

But having lived there, I can say that expats got a good deal, with servants and chaffeur at your disposal, esp if you work for a major mining company.

Life is quite relax there. But you have to be careful of the people, the HIACE vans. Even stopping at the traffic lights is a challenge.

Electric fence is the norm.

These days, the Joburg CBD is overrun by refugees and the city is operating from the northern suburbs, such as Sandon.

yep, this idiot pretended to be one at first but his choice of words doesn't match what sinkie normally use, so that's how i realise he's not a sinkie.

He has improved though, but the boring MO still remains the same.

lock the car door at all times, esp at traffic stops.
stay away from trouble spots.
Use electric fence. Make sure home protected by an armed response security team.
