KUALA LUMPUR - A reporter and two freelance workers of a political newspaper were caught for allegedly painting derogatory words against the Prime Minister's wife on several structures in the city.
They were nabbed by two policemen near the Angkasapuri rail station here at around 6.10am yesterday.
The suspects, who were seen outside a parked car, tried to flee in the car when they sensed the presence of the men in blue but the policemen managed to stop them.
Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said upon inspection the policemen found 24 cans of spray paint.
The policemen found several stencils with words of support for tomorrow's rally outside the Kuala Lumpur Courts Complex, he told a press conference at the Brickfields police headquarters.
"The policemen found offensive words printed on a large pillar at the spot where the suspects were arrested. The suspects, from Kuala Lumpur, Seri Kembangan and Johor, have been remanded till Tuesday," he added.
The three men are being investigated under Section 506 and 509 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and words or gestures intended to outrage the modesty of a person.
