I remember another incident many many years back. A minister did a "surprise visit" to a particular MRT station in the east. When he arrived, barricades were setup and lesser mortals were asked to stand behind them until the minister leaves. Those barricades are set up at both end of the MRT terminal, leaving 80% of the platform empty.
The minister arrive, smile smile, take pictures, boarded the train and left.
The MRT personnel promptly removed the barricades and everything went back to normal.
Next day. Newspaper headline "MRT - a comfortable ride".
