Tourist fined $16,000 for false GST refund claims

Good example. Perfectly legal and nothing immoral as far as I'm concerned. I did that with my credit card many times like when I'm low on cash and my friend wants to buy something and paying in cash, I'd say hey, pass me the cash and I'd sign for you. Whether I pay or receive commission from the salesman is private matter. No cheating is involved. The buyer gets what he paid for. Any default is between me and my bank.

Actually the shop lugi as pay by credit card will lost merchant fees and also collection is delayed by a week as opposed to cash. That's why pay with cash usually got better discount.

Yes, CC got delay payment and bank charge. That's why if I persuade my friend to let me sign for it and pass me the cash, I owe the shop a favour. Usually, the goodwill and return of favour is worth more than the bank charge. That's the way to do business, retain customers and retaining introducers of customers. Goodwill is invaluable in business. Don't be penny wise and pound foolish. Don't just know to add, know how to multiply too. ;)
