Janadas Devan has been appointed to the newly created post of chief of government communications. He starts next month, to co-ordinate the government's efforts in public communications. He leaves the SPH group as associate editor as well as director of the Institute of Policy Studies and will remain with the think tank.

He said, of his new appointment: "We live in a post-normal era. Those who lead will have to consult. Those who wish to inform will have to listen."
