As Singapore is moving towards a more transparent and stricter governance, auditors, directors must openly disclose themselves to prove there is no conflict of interest in running a company. A good example is that the boss must not appoint himself as internal auditor to check on his company, regardless whether he is still a CEO, director or sleeping partner. Similarly, Tony Tan who is previously members of GIC failed to qualify himself as true independent party. He has benefited greatly from his position in GIC and probably were part of the decision maker. God knows how many months of bonuses or perks he received during his tenure in GIC without wanting the people to know. There was no such disclosures from GIC who have groomed him. As such, he cannot carry his duty as check and balance on our reserves effectively since he has interest in it. This itself rendered Tony Tan completely disqualified as Singapore president and Singaporeans demand that he must not stand for the election. We are waiting for Election Department to confirm the fair and just news.
The only qualified candidates are now left with Tan Kin Lian and Tan Cheng Bock. These two do no have any interest and neither have they worked in Temasek or GIC in the past, thus they are truly a good third party for the job to check on our reserves.
Guys, now the president you need to elect is either TKL or TCB. Tony Tan is considered disqualified already.
