As Singapore is moving towards a more transparent and stricter governance, auditors, directors must openly disclose themselves to prove there is no conflict of interest in running a company. A good example is that the boss must not appoint himself as internal auditor to check on his company, regardless whether he is still a CEO, director or sleeping partner. Similarly, Tony Tan who is previously members of GIC failed to qualify himself as true independent party. He has benefited greatly from his position in GIC and probably were part of the decision maker. God knows how many months of bonuses or perks he received during his tenure in GIC without wanting the people to know. There was no such disclosures from GIC who have groomed him. As such, he cannot carry his duty as check and balance on our reserves effectively since he has interest in it. This itself rendered Tony Tan completely disqualified as Singapore president and Singaporeans demand that he must not stand for the election. We are waiting for Election Department to confirm the fair and just news.

The only qualified candidates are now left with Tan Kin Lian and Tan Cheng Bock. These two do no have any interest and neither have they worked in Temasek or GIC in the past, thus they are truly a good third party for the job to check on our reserves.

Guys, now the president you need to elect is either TKL or TCB. Tony Tan is considered disqualified already.

check what?

president of singapore = do nothing + get high salary + paid no taxes

check what?

so naive.

If the president is suppose to jaga against PAP(the party in power) abuses then it makes sense that the presidential candidates should in no way be connected to the PAP.

Why not have another election like the GE but where PAP cannot have any candidates:)

Of course LKY & Co would never let this happen that's why the role of president is redundant:rolleyes:

Come on guys, this EP role is even less important than a NCMP.
If a pro-establishment guy were to win, nothing chances except the main dish in Istana wont be prata anymore. If a REAL anti-establishment guy were to win, all stops will be put up and he either 1) shut up or 2) be kicked out faster than you can say "man hours".

If you want to see changes, let loose in the next GE. This is quite simply an exercise to decide which Tan get to win the monthly Toto for the next 5-6 years.

I agree with you. If it can be done it is either LKY or LHL be the EP. This is conflict of interest.

It certainly shows incestuous behaviour. The guy is associated with an entity that generated the reserves and now he is aiming for a position where he can assist the entity in times where they might find it useful to dig into the reserves to prop up their books.

Not a good thing at all.

The whole thing is a joke. Might as write into law that the prerequisite for EP is to be with the PAP.

TS you got the point, but on paper, is not a reason to disqualfy him.

There is a choice this them.

:D

Let's hope this can be made in public and let people know there is conflict of interest. PAP do things defy their own laws like having PM's wife jaga our reserves and his father jaga GIC. Now the deputy chairman Tony Tan (who held the first key) want to hold the 2nd key to our reserve in the name of president.

If heaven got no eyes to see, Singaporeans should be able to see through the conspiracy. There is reason why our CPF is locked, all because there is no check and balance in our systems and PAP stooges have had their days digging our money for themselves.
