Sensing that he may not be elected as the next President of Singapore, Tony Tan yesterday spelt out that what he sees as the vital features of a second Resilence Package to help Singaporeans in an event of an economic crisis.
"Families with children, people living in three-room HDB flats, other public accommodation, all these people will require help,'' he told reporters.
"Secondly, we must protect jobs. When you have high unemployment as in US, at 9 per cent, in Europe, Spain 15 pe rcent, in Greece, over 20 per cent, where is hope? There is no hope."
Plans are ready and can be rolled out. So, we don't scramble around at the last minute, after the crisis hits us, trying to improvise," he said.
