TOC: We just reported the facts; what's your beef, Mr Cherian George?

Simple English language comprehension is likely to be the last and most insignificant factor in the crisis failure of communication. Mr Cherian George, Mr Seng and SMRT should come to grip with these realities. It is not command of English language that was the bear bug of this fiasco. TOC reported the bare facts of words uttered. Nothing more and nothing less – no sensation, no loss of “basic factual accuracy” in brevity of headline read and certainly no political naivety – leaving all other journalistic hype where they should be buried in the media world.

All those presumptions of race, ethnicity relevance to communication breakdown, we suspect, is misplaced and displaced rationalizations after the crisis eventuated. It is naivety to conclude otherwise when they have been in their jobs for however long or short duration because they could not have function effectively in their roles, even if inefficiently. And it is an open secret now that they had no prior training in crisis management. So how could anyone conclude that they either understand or failed to understand the “syntax” of language – be that in English language- in actual crisis management except of fictional imagination?

Agreed. Gift of the gab is entirely different from the gift of the brain, if anything as such. To me gift of the gab is like the equivalent of 'verbal diarrhoea'

If the gift of the gab is that so important in communciations, then in the silent world of the deaf/dumb mute are 'incommunicados'? No right, the sign language is in existence as 'another way of god-given' talking among the mute themselves, and between the haves of able to talk and the have-nots.

So being able to speak and write in super 'queens' english' is not that meaningful at/after all, especially try talking to a mute in your super English?

If u look at his name what can you conclude from it? What kind of ppl are the ones that always expouse their good command of english and somehow hold that the fact that they speak good english or have a wide vocabulary to mean that they are superior to those who lack them and that having them means that somehow they are better than everyone else in all aspects.
