Wifey at Italian restaurant owner said no wine no alcohol today. Sigh.

it is the end of budhist lent lah, a 3 months period when monks stay in temples during rainy season not to wander out and inadvertently destroy crop in the field in the ancient time

Same, same in Pattaya.
The bars here had their music off & lights out:eek:

1st time I'm here on a religious holiday & find it very strange compared to how it is normally.

Not a Buddhist myself too, but isn't Buddha Day Vesak Day? In May?

Cheers!

Before visiting Los, I looked up on public holidays to avoid crowds & strangely Budha Day is not a public holiday.
So I was caught by surprise.

I'm not a budhist so quite ignorant of their practises. May have to change that if I decide to stay in Thailand for longer periods.

While Sinkie guys serve NS, Thai guys serve as Buddhists monks.

I shared an apartment in the US with 3 school friends in my uni days. They were a Thai, a Taiwanese and a Japanese guys. My Thai friend served as a Buddhist monk for 2 years before going to uni.
