I'm in a spoon feeding mood so here's a plan for you.....
A. Apply for residency in NZ. Details at http://www.immigration.govt.nz/
B. Buy a house for $400,000. Details at http://www.realestate.co.nz/
C. Buy two cars.. one for you and one for the wife - about $10,000 each. Details at http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Motors/Cars.aspx
D. Place the remaining funds in a 12 month term deposit. $1 million at 6 % gives you an income before tax of $60,000 per annum. Details at http://www.kiwibank.co.nz/
E. Take your time to find an easy job which pays around $35,000 per annum. Wife can work part time at $12.75 per hour (minimum wage). Details at http://www.seek.co.nz/
If all goes well, the family income should be at least $110,000 per annum before tax... more than enough for a high quality stress free existence with welfare benefits thrown in. eg - need a heart transplant? It's FREE!
There you go... from hell hole to paradise in 5 easy steps. What could be simpler?
PS: You can apply for citizenship after a couple of years residency. Once you've got it, you can get your hands on your CPF before Ho Ching blows it all. Most middle class Sinkies in their forties should have at least $200,000 in their accounts. That's $400,000 (husband+wife). When you've claimed what is rightfully yours, you can either add it to your term deposit and enjoy the interest or use it to buy a better house.
