This reminds me of those Malaysians who live and spend modestly while working in S'pore, but will eventually own a landed home and 1-2 cars when they retire back in their hometown in Malaysia.

Former S-League professional footballer Egmar Goncalves took up S'pore citizenship to represent our national team. However, after retiring, he sold his condo here, and returned to Brazil where he bought 8 homes. He has been living off his rental income ever since. S'pore is too expensive to retire in.
