Kuala Terengganu - Police shot at three suspected robbers and detained them following an early morning high-speed car chase drama in Marang.
Terengganu deputy police chief Datuk Hamzah Mohd Jamil said two of them were hurt in the incident last Saturday.
They are a 48-year-old man who was injured on his right hip and a 36-year-old man who was hurt in the knee.
The 30-year-old driver and police officers were not injured.
Hamzah said the officers spotted a suspicious-looking car in a housing estate and asked the driver to pull over at 4.45am.
"But he sped off when our officers approached him.
"My men had to jump to avoid being knocked down and had to open fire at the car," he added.
Hamzah said the police managed to apprehend the suspects after a 3km chase which ended in Kampung Durian Guling, Marang.
He said police discovered several weapons in the vehicle, including a parang, a gollock (a type of machete) and a steel cutter.
Hamzah said all three suspects had more than one criminal record each, including drug abuse, robbery and attempted theft.
