26-year-old Singaporean Gary Goh Koon Wei was sentenced to 5 weeks' jail for kicking a taxi driver while intoxicated. At 1am of 11 July 2014, Gary Goh and his girlfriend boarded 41-year-old Alex Ng Keng

Tiong's TransCab taxi at the Wine Bar Zouk. During the journey, Gary Goh vomited in the taxi and the driver asked the duo if they are going to pay for the cleaning cost, to which the duo did not respond.

Upon reaching the destination at Choa Chu Kang Central, the girlfriend paid for the taxi fare but the driver asked again if they are going to pay for the cleaning cost. Gary Goh then tried to punch the driver from the backseat, which the driver managed to block, but was eventually kicked in the face.

When all 3 got out of the taxi, Gary Goh then continued to taunt the driver and threw a S$50 note at the driver, who had called the police and recorded part of the taunt with his mobile phone.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Jason Chua called for a heavier sentence hoping the court would send a strong message that assaults on public transport workers would not be tolerated.
