BEIJING (AFP) - The number of dollar billionaires in China has passed 300 for the first time, an annual ranking of wealth in the world's second-largest economy showed on Wednesday.

The Hurun Report, a luxury magazine publisher, named property tycoon Wang Jianlin as China's new richest person, saying he had more than doubled his worth to US$22 billion (S$28 billion).

There were a total of 315 dollar billionaires in the country, it said, up 64 from a year ago.

The average fortune of the top 1,000 stood at US$1.04 billion - more than double their US$440 million during the global financial crisis five years ago.

it is good that we should welcome more chinese to our country and cement our social, economic and political ties...sealed to eternity.

meanwhile in geo-synchronous space, the elysium community of billionaires has banned all tiong billionaires from buying properties and living on the elitist and luxury space station as all tiongs, including trillionaires, are considered uncouth and rude. the elysium sanctuary has a sensitive eco-system that cannot tolerate one iota of sticky phlegm being spit on the pristine fauna and flora. loud clearing of the throat can also reverberate across the entire circumference of the habitat and can affect the rotation of the giant wheel leading to potentially dangerous shifts of centrifugal and centripetal forces. in rejection, tiong billionaires hire engineers to copy the design of elysium and create their own luxury space wheel habitat named "yi li ti sun" or "elitism" in english. :p

Sinkaporeans should be proud that little red dot is really a Chinese country. Period.

china leads in the GREEN movement...

Correction: China is making progress towards modernisation BUT is not leading the GREEN movement - far from it. Hardly a day passes in urban areas in China (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou) where you can see blue skies. It is polluted as heck.

Cheers!

Then why is the National Anthem in Bahasa Melayu? Why are all the road signs and street instructions in English? The way I see it, Singapore is more an International City with strong western values. That's why Ah Tiongs are not that welcomed.

Cheers!

We do not play play with China... We only played by the China mei mei?:D

what's there to be proud of? do singapore chinese get special residential privileges in china?

our forefathers LEFT china many decades ago for a reason. the good horse won't eat the grass behind him.

i'd rather be proud of a singapore that is a singaporean country. immigrants who join us adopt our way of life and do no expect us to accomodate them. we choose elements of their culture that enhance our living standards and adopt those. let us be a melting pot of cultures, but on our terms.

What's the majority ? Over 75% Chinese !

PM ? Chinese.

Imperial family ? Chinese.

Wealth ? Chinese.

Ah Tiongs ? Good point and they are very important to maintain the above. Vast majority of new citizens /PRs also Chinese. Hee hee.

Other races are welcomed as long as they stay minority and are there to prop up the Chinese in sinkapore.

Your melting pot is also known as "mongrelisation". Will a Chinese like his daughter to be married to an Indian ? Ever. Be honest with yourself unless you are already a mongrel. Then ........ sorry lah.
