National water agency PUB put up an alert on social media platform X at about 2.42pm, advising the public to avoid Upper East Coast Road, near Parbury Avenue, for the next hour.

In updates at 3.16pm and 3.25pm, PUB advised the public to avoid Riverside Road in Woodlands and East Coast Road for an hour.

The National Environment Agency at 2.50pm warned of heavy rain expected over many areas of Singapore from 3pm to 4pm.

SINGAPORE – Flash floods occurred in Kembangan and Upper East Coast Road on the afternoon of Dec 12 amid heavy rain across Singapore.

National water agency PUB, in earlier updates on social media, had also warned of the risk of flash floods occurring in five other locations.

PUB said at 4.25pm that there was a flash flood in Sims Avenue East in Kembangan, from Lorong Sarina to Lorong Mydin.

About 10 minutes earlier, at 4.16pm, it had said that Upper East Coast Road, near Parbury Avenue, was hit by a flash flood. It urged the public to avoid both areas.

However, both flash floods had subsided as at 5pm, PUB said in a later update.

The agency first alerted the public to the risk of a flash flood in Upper East Coast Road at about 2.45pm.

Around 4pm, PUB advised the public to avoid a service road off Upper Paya Lebar Road, near Lim Teck Boo Road in Hougang, for the next hour.

At about 3.45pm, it also advised the public to avoid Lorong Gambir in Upper Serangoon for an hour.

Earlier, at 3.16pm and 3.25pm, PUB had said the public should avoid Riverside Road in Woodlands and East Coast Road for an hour.

The National Environment Agency at 2.50pm warned of heavy rain expected over many areas of Singapore from 3pm to 4pm. In an update at 3.40pm, it extended the warning to 4.45pm.

SINGAPORE – Members of the public have been urged to avoid three areas in the vicinity of Bukit Timah on Dec 13 due to the risk of a flash flood occurring.

They are:

  • Dunearn Road, from Rifle Range to Binjai Park
  • Junction of King’s Road and Prince Road
  • Mackenzie Road near Bukit Timah Road
National water agency PUB issued an alert on social media at around 6pm to avoid the areas for the next hour, citing heavy rain.

The National Environment Agency had also warned of heavy rain in the southern and western areas of the island, from 6.15pm to 7pm.

The Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) had also put up a warning on its website, stating that “heavy thundery showers” were expected during the same period.

This comes just a day after flash floods occurred in Kembangan and Upper East Coast Road on the afternoon of Dec 12 amid heavy rain across Singapore.

In its fortnightly weather report, MSS on Dec 1 said thundery showers can be expected in the afternoon for the first half of December, with moderate to heavy rain possibly extending into the evenings on a few days.

SINGAPORE - Singapore’s national water agency PUB has issued a flash flood risk warning for four locations in western Singapore on Dec 14 due to heavy rain.

In social media posts at around 3pm, PUB said these areas are:

  • Junction of Lorong Kismis and Toh Tuck Rise
  • Junction of Sunset Drive and Sunset Way
  • Jalan Boon Lay (from Enterprise Road to International Road)
  • Dunearn Road (from Rifle Range Road to Binjai Park)
PUB urged members of the public to avoid these areas for an hour.

At about 2.30pm, PUB said heavy rain is expected over many areas of Singapore from 2.40pm to 3.40pm.
 
Fortunately, we only experience ponding, which does not cause significant damage to people or property. However, it occasionally disrupts the transport system and its services, leading to unnecessary traffic jams and delays.

SINGAPORE – A flash flood that occurred in Jurong Town Hall Road amid heavy rain across Singapore on Feb 18 has subsided.

PUB, in an advisory on social media platform X at about 5.50pm, had urged the public to avoid the affected area, from Jurong East Street 11 to Jurong East Street 12.

In an update at 6.04pm, PUB said the flash flood has subsided.

In earlier advisories at about 5.30pm, the national water agency also asked the public to avoid Jalan Boon Lay (Enterprise Road to International Road) and the junction of Sunset Drive and Sunset Way Road, due to the risk of flash floods.

SINGAPORE – Commuters are urged to avoid two locations in the west of Singapore and a road in the Bukit Timah area owing to the risk of flash floods on the afternoon of Feb 19.

The public should avoid Jurong Town Hall Road, from Jurong East Street 11 to Jurong East Street 12, and Pandan Road in the Pioneer area for the next hour, said national water agency PUB in advisories posted on social media at around 4pm.

In a later alert at around 4.50pm, PUB urged the public to avoid Dunearn Road, from Yarwood Avenue to Binjai Park, in the Bukit Timah area for the next hour.

Heavy rain was expected over the southern, western and central areas of the island from 4.15pm to 5pm, it said, citing the National Environment Agency.

Showers are expected over most parts of the island in the afternoons and evenings on the first few days of the second half of February, said the Meteorological Service Singapore.

Following this, conditions are expected to turn relatively drier, though brief localised thundery showers may still happen on several afternoons, said the weatherman.
