Public urged to avoid areas in East Coast, Woodlands due to flash flood risk: PUB​

SINGAPORE – Members of the public have been urged to avoid areas in East Coast and Woodlands on Dec 12, owing to the risk of a flash flood occurring.

National water agency PUB put up an alert on social media platform X at about 2.42pm, advising the public to avoid Upper East Coast Road, near Parbury Avenue, for the next hour.

In updates at 3.16pm and 3.25pm, PUB advised the public to avoid Riverside Road in Woodlands and East Coast Road for an hour.

The National Environment Agency at 2.50pm warned of heavy rain expected over many areas of Singapore from 3pm to 4pm.

Flash floods in Kembangan, Upper East Coast Road amid heavy rain: PUB​

SINGAPORE – Flash floods occurred in Kembangan and Upper East Coast Road on the afternoon of Dec 12 amid heavy rain across Singapore.

National water agency PUB, in earlier updates on social media, had also warned of the risk of flash floods occurring in five other locations.

PUB said at 4.25pm that there was a flash flood in Sims Avenue East in Kembangan, from Lorong Sarina to Lorong Mydin.

About 10 minutes earlier, at 4.16pm, it had said that Upper East Coast Road, near Parbury Avenue, was hit by a flash flood. It urged the public to avoid both areas.

However, both flash floods had subsided as at 5pm, PUB said in a later update.

The agency first alerted the public to the risk of a flash flood in Upper East Coast Road at about 2.45pm.

Around 4pm, PUB advised the public to avoid a service road off Upper Paya Lebar Road, near Lim Teck Boo Road in Hougang, for the next hour.

At about 3.45pm, it also advised the public to avoid Lorong Gambir in Upper Serangoon for an hour.

Earlier, at 3.16pm and 3.25pm, PUB had said the public should avoid Riverside Road in Woodlands and East Coast Road for an hour.

The National Environment Agency at 2.50pm warned of heavy rain expected over many areas of Singapore from 3pm to 4pm. In an update at 3.40pm, it extended the warning to 4.45pm.

Risk of flash floods in vicinity of Bukit Timah: PUB​

Thundery showers can be expected in the afternoon for the first half of December.

SINGAPORE – Members of the public have been urged to avoid three areas in the vicinity of Bukit Timah on Dec 13 due to the risk of a flash flood occurring.

They are:

• Dunearn Road, from Rifle Range to Binjai Park
• Junction of King’s Road and Prince Road
• Mackenzie Road near Bukit Timah Road

National water agency PUB issued an alert on social media at around 6pm to avoid the areas for the next hour, citing heavy rain.

The National Environment Agency had also warned of heavy rain in the southern and western areas of the island, from 6.15pm to 7pm.

The Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) had also put up a warning on its website, stating that “heavy thundery showers” were expected during the same period.

This comes just a day after flash floods occurred in Kembangan and Upper East Coast Road on the afternoon of Dec 12 amid heavy rain across Singapore.

In its fortnightly weather report, MSS on Dec 1 said thundery showers can be expected in the afternoon for the first half of December, with moderate to heavy rain possibly extending into the evenings on a few days.

Risk of flash floods at 4 locations in western Singapore: PUB​

Heavy rain is expected over many areas of Singapore in the afternoon of Dec 14.

SINGAPORE - Singapore’s national water agency PUB has issued a flash flood risk warning for four locations in western Singapore on Dec 14 due to heavy rain.

In social media posts at around 3pm, PUB said these areas are:

• Junction of Lorong Kismis and Toh Tuck Rise
• Junction of Sunset Drive and Sunset Way
• Jalan Boon Lay (from Enterprise Road to International Road)
• Dunearn Road (from Rifle Range Road to Binjai Park)

PUB urged members of the public to avoid these areas for an hour.

At about 2.30pm, PUB said heavy rain is expected over many areas of Singapore from 2.40pm to 3.40pm.
