The PAP's idea that a larger population in S'pore directly translates to higher GDP growth is overly simplistic. While a larger workforce can contribute to increased production, GDP per capita which reflects individual prosperity, is a more accurate measure of economic success. Simply increasing the population without corresponding increases in productivity, innovation and infrastructure may actually lead to diminishing returns and a lower quality of life for S'poreans.
