The pap has said that the whip will not be lifted for the coming Parliamentary Debate on the Ministerial Salaries Review. This is interesting and bears both bad and good news.
Bad news:
1. All PAP MPs have to vote according to PAP's policy regardless of their conscience and even if they disagree with the review.
2. The pap has not changed much and is determined to bulldoze its way through regardless of Singaporeans' and MPs' sentiments.
3. The recommendations have been passed by Parliament regardless of whatever the MPs say even if more than 90% disagree. This is a very unhealthy situation.
Good news:
1. Does the PAP sense that many PAP MPs have a conscience and will vote against the review should the whip be lifted? This is indeed good news!!!
2. Is LHL afraid that his support for the review will be defeated if Parliament is given a free hand to vote according to their conscience?
3. Is there a good bunch of PAP MPs who truly believe in altruism, glory and honour in serving Singapore and not money?
4. Is there a PAP faction brave enough to speak up against LHL and LKY?
With the Whip confirmed in place, Singaporeans have to listen carefully to what every PAP MP says during the Parliamentary debate since each has to vote "yes" to the review. Hopefully this episode will enlighten more Singaporeans to Parliamentary Democracy and better prepare us for the next GE
